Those of you who know me know that I was totally Gung Ho'bama leading up to the election. It was about this time last year that it really started to look like he could bring down the Clinton leviathon.
It was an unusual experience for me that he won. It was the first time I'd ever gotten behind a candidate who actually got there. In the past I'd championed Bill Bradley (lost out to Al Gore) and Wesley Clark (lost out to John Kerry) and so I am unaccustomed to choosing an eventual victor.
He's now been President for 100 days and all in all, and given everything he has to contend with, I can't imagine anyone doing better.
There have been a couple of missteps, in my opinion... like when he chose Pastor Rick Warren to give the invocation and the inauguration.... or how he kept certain aspects of wiretapping surveillance available to use at his disposal. (C'mon... that's sooooo Cheney.) But whenever I get one of those moments of, "No... Really? Obama is seriously doing that?" I stop to remind myself of how, during the campaign, I argued that Barack was the guy to bring the country back together. That's not gonna happen if every single little thing he does fits 100% in my "NOW THAT'S HOW THE WORLD SHOULD BE" BOX.
George W. never did ANYTHING that I felt ok about.
No American should have to feel that way about their president.
