Just the facts, Ma'am: Not that they matter

Sometimes I just don't understand what message the Bush Administration is trying to send. To quote a CNN.com story:
"The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has issued a report to Congress that said the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts could hamstring the U.S.'s ability to fight other wars, and that future campaigns could last longer and produce higher casualties, a senior military official told CNN. White House spokesman Trent Duffy reiterated Tuesday the president's belief that the military is prepared for whatever it may face."

It just amazes me that here we have the CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF -- a General who knows exactly what's going in the war and the world and with our military-- giving his EXPERT opinion in front of Congress, and yet the president's "belief" on the subject is completely contrary. What is this man thinking???
