Mike B. and I went to see this little movie yesterday and it gets two enthusiastic thumbs up. It's sweet, edgy, uplifting, and has lots of squirmy uncomfortably laugh-out-loud moments with a perfectly cast cast and lots of little insights that keep you thinking (and chuckling) long after the movie is over. Miranda July wrote, directed, and stars in it and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Definitely one of the best films this year so find where it's playing near you and go see it.
On Saturday night, caught Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Kev and Les and we all loved it. Sure, you pretty much know exactly how it's going to play out -- but as soon as the kids step through the gates and the tour presentation begins, you realize that this is NOT your parent's Willy Wonka. Certainly classic Tim Burton here, with a little channelling of Baz Luhrmann every now and again.
