Reid Dorn was an adventurer who cast his fate to the wind, found his heart in Chile and settled down to plant vines and make wine. My dad was a great man, and the Nido de Aguilas vineyard and winery is his life's great work. Despite many hardships from the outset (the winery burned down in 2001, for starters) he managed to forge ahead and create what he called “the best wine in the world” until his death in 2005.
The 2005 wines are ready to drink this year. Armonia, our fabulous bordeux blend and a lesser amount of our exceptional Syrah are already bottled, waiting to be shipped. Unfortunately, we find ourselves at a tipping point financially. My dad’s friends, who have managed the operation so far, want to retire and close the doors. My brother, my sister, and myself know we can do better and have lots of ideas of how we can take the winery to the next level. First we need to raise some money to keep the lights on and get the Armonia and Syrah shipped.
We have a small quantity of 2003 Merlot here in the states that we’re selling for $20 a bottle or $200 a case. I’m not usually a merlot fan, but this stuff is DELICIOUS, definitely worth it. Please get in touch with us if you would like to buy some or want to know more. -Christian Dorn
